Hybrid meetings
Hybrid meeting audio, without buying a conference system.
The standard fix for “remote people can't hear the room” is dedicated hardware — typically hundreds to thousands of dollars, installed and cabled, per room. If your meeting room is really just a table, a Mac and some chairs, Muxvox skips all of that: the phones already in the room become the microphone array.
The exact setup
- Install Muxvox Desktop on the Mac that joins the call, and click “Install audio driver” when it offers (one password prompt).
- Everyone in the room installs the free Muxvox app and taps the room's name — the host approves each phone once.
- In your meeting app's audio settings, pick Muxvox Microphone as the microphone and Muxvox Speaker as the speaker.
That's all of it. The meeting still shows one participant for the room; each person just has a microphone within arm's reach. Audio stays on your Wi-Fi, encrypted — details in the security overview.
When hardware IS the right answer
Honestly: a permanently installed, dedicated room system makes sense for large boardrooms with daily video needs, ceiling mics and integrated cameras. Muxvox is for the other rooms — the improvised ones, the coworking spaces, the client's office, the room that wasn't supposed to be a meeting room. Free for two phones; $140 a year per room Mac for up to sixteen.
Personal is free for two phones, no account. The phone apps are free on the App Store and Google Play.
