Pop-up meeting rooms
A conference room for the afternoon, out of what’s in the room.
Coworking space, client's office, offsite, the corner of the workshop — some rooms are meeting rooms for exactly two hours. Muxvox sets up in about ten minutes and leaves no trace: nothing mounted, nothing cabled, nothing to pack up except the phones people came with.
The exact setup
- Install Muxvox Desktop on the Mac that joins the call, and click “Install audio driver” when it offers (one password prompt).
- Everyone in the room installs the free Muxvox app and taps the room's name — the host approves each phone once.
- In your meeting app's audio settings, pick Muxvox Microphone as the microphone and Muxvox Speaker as the speaker.
That's all of it. The meeting still shows one participant for the room; each person just has a microphone within arm's reach. Audio stays on your Wi-Fi, encrypted — details in the security overview.
Made for rooms you don't control
On unfamiliar Wi-Fi, device discovery is sometimes blocked (guest networks love doing this). Muxvox Desktop shows its address for connecting manually, and in the worst case a phone hotspot with the Mac joined to it makes you independent of the venue's network entirely — the audio never needs internet, just a local connection. The network page has the whole playbook.
Personal is free for two phones, no account. The phone apps are free on the App Store and Google Play.
